As most of you may have heard, St Amants has sold! The new owners (the same owners as Wright’s) would like to convey the following message:

St Amant’s has been an integral part of life in Britt for more than 38 years. Larry and his Father Henry, created the thriving business after sitting at the dinner table and noticing the property was not being used to its full potential. A call to the bank and they were on their way. They started with just a wooden building general store and no waterfront development. Over the years they developed a seasonal trailer park, a motel with a restaurant, an upgraded convenience store, and a marina. Larry, with three of his brothers (Kenneth, Glenn & Patrick) and with the help of his extended family and dedicated employees, has been instrumental in the infrastructure of this fine but tiny town for over 50 years (starting with their construction company).

They have offered a little bit of everything for both residents and visitors alike and have come to be an important part of the surrounding community. From the seasonal trailer park and transient docking to the motel for lodging. From gas, boat rentals, and docks to the grocery/general store and LCBO for most of your everyday needs. Let’s not forget the glory days of the fine restaurant (sadly closed due to covid). Larry and his crew have become local heroes in providing what we need and they have grown and changed with the times.

It is indeed, with humble hearts, a great honour to be carrying on the business which Larry and his family have nurtured over the years. We know that it will be big shoes to try to fill but we will endeavor to do our very best to continue with the traditions and wonderful service that they started. Some faces will be familiar, and some will be new but we are committed to carrying the torch of serving the community in pride. There is no way for the citizens of our community to truly show the appreciation that these folks deserve. We all, however, feel great gratitude for the years of hard work that they all have given in service to us all. So, Thank You from the Hindson family for trusting us with this great responsibility and opportunity.

We reopen Friday, December 1, 2023!
